Pilot action
Piloting a tailored-made Digital Maturity Assessment tool and methodology in a Call for proposals to foster R&D&I on digitalisation through AI.
GAIN'll launch the 1st call ever on R&D&I in digital technology in the region in the coming months. It'll support collaboration projects aimed to increase digital technology capabilities and support the introduction of cutting-edge digital/AI developments, with active role / strong participation of (E)DIHs, especially during the design and assessment process.
The call will be open to proposals tackling regional industry needs and aligned with Galicia S3 challenges and priorities, GAIN’s PI in the project. SME participation will be a must, as the call will support the introduction of AI developments in companies and to raise awareness and knowledge about benefits of AI in industry, especially among participating SME. To assess the achieved objectives, GAIN does not have technical resources to do so.
However, in the project ILEs, GAIN's identified a tool and method implemented by Emilia-Romagna. It's been designed and used to help measure the impact of their financial instruments in some calls supporting the introduction of AI solutions in SMEs. It's the Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA) tool and methodology, and GAIN'll test it during the implementation of the aforementioned call for proposals. Since this is the 1st time such a tool is implemented in Galicia, and GAIN has no prior experience in using it, the sole purpose of the pilot action is to test the DMA tool and methodology in the Galician context, supported by Emilia-Romagna.
The implementation of the call is not part of the pilot action. The call merely provides the context for testing the tool. The only element being tested in this pilot action is the DMA tool and methodology as an instrument to evaluate the impact of projects funded under the call. For testing purposes, a sample of approved projects will be selected and analysed using the DMA methodology. The results will serve to assess the applicability, effectiveness and added value of this tool for impact evaluation in the Galician R&D&I ecosystem.
