Pilot action
Digital Solutions for Circular Agri-Food Systems (DISOCAFS)
DISOCAFS will be implemented in the Region of Western Greece; it is inspired by Soulfood, a GP proposed by DIPTA, the Spanish partner of CEI-Boost. DISOCAFS will create and test a digital platform to improve sustainability and circularity in the agri-food sector. DISOCAFS will develop a cross-platform mobile application to support and enhance food waste management, optimize an inventory, and connect regional producers with social initiatives through an automated AI matching system. The initiative aims to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact by leveraging digital technologies.
The platform will enable real-time tracking of surplus food, inventory optimization, and redistribution. The main features include an intuitive interface, multiple user profiles (farmers, food businesses, social initiatives), and automated connectivity between food producers and redistribution entities based on supply and demand. DISOCAFS will assess the platform’s effectiveness in reducing waste, improving supply chain transparency, and fostering collaboration across the agri-food value chain.
DISOCAFS ensures compliance with EU digital standards and open data principles, facilitating data collection, licensing, and interoperability. It will generate analytics, tracking food redistribution efficiency, user adoption rates, and waste reduction impact. Based on practical feedback, UX testing with at least three local producers will refine the system.
DISOCAFS includes targeted training webinars and workshops for farmers, food businesses, and social organizations on digital literacy, platform functionality, and sustainable food management practices. A participatory approach will engage key stakeholders in co-developing solutions to ensure long-term viability and scalability.
DISOCAFS will facilitate regional collaboration between farmers, businesses, policymakers, and consumers to promote sustainable consumption habits and ensure long-term sustainability.
