Pilot action
RoboTech Girls in Transylvania
The proposed pilot aims to test an innovative, transferable approach to be integrated into the regional policy instrument, inspired by the successful good practice RoboTech Girls’ shared by the French partner Grand Est Developpement (PP10). The pilot addresses the critical issue of female underrepresentation in digital and technical fields by equipping middle and high school girls with essential skills, guiding them with mentors and trainers towards tech careers and actively challenging gender stereotypes.
Implemented by the North-West RDA (PP04) with the necessary external expertise to be contracted, the pilot will deliver 20 structured discovery workshops aiming to introduce and train 100 Romanian school girls in fields of technology and innovation such as robotics, coding, digital design, cybersecurity, automation, AI. Implemented for the first time in Romania, the pilot will offer selected girls from the region the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops and mentorship activities, introducing them to emerging technologies and future job paths in STEM. The program is designed to create equitable access to technical education and contribute to the long-term goal of increasing female participation in the digital economy.
Public authorities, educational institutions, and private sector partners will be engaged through plenary sessions and tech-talks, providing real-world insights and professional interaction. The pilot will contribute to the design of the policy instrument measure under preparation – Development of education centres for youth, in the regional smart specialization fields, under the Regional Programme (RP) for the North-West Region 2021-2027, Priority Axis 6 – An Educated Region. Such pilot would help testing the measure to be further included into the RP North-West and replicated to the regional level in different territories, through ERDF and national cofinancing.
