Pilot action
Electric and electronic equipment repair bonus
In Navarra region will be tested the repair bonus from Leipzig, a financial support scheme to citizens that allows to have their household items repaired.
Due to the current fast way of consumption, and the weak value chain of the electric and electronic equipment (EEE) sector, citizens usually prefer to buy new items instead of repair the broken ones. Therefore, this financial support scheme to citizens will act in two ways: first one, help citizens to opt for not buying new items and repair the broken one by a reasonable price, which will help to reduce WEEE Waste, and second one, enforce repair shops to be visible for citizens and strengthen their value chain.
For developing this bonus for PP03, the Government of Navarra will launch a call to citizens to grant a percentage of the repair invoice of their EEE. This grant will be covered by Government of Navarra under the budget from its Waste Fund 2026. In addition, it will be created and published a list of electronic equipment repair shops and a communication campaign at regional level to engage citizens to opt for repairing their devices. Finally, an evaluation of the pilot action will be carried out at the end of the call to assess it results, success and discuss the continuation of the scheme and how it could be better implemented. This evaluation will include a satisfaction survey conducted among the citizens participating in the bonus.
Government of Navarra will contact all EEE repair entities to create a network of repair shops in this sector. There is already a small group working to strengthen its position in its value chain, but needs to grow up. Government of Navarra will make their businesses visible in its website for citizens to find easily where to go for repairing electric and electronic equipment and will facilitate the cost of the repair while this option is commonly integrated in consumption behaviour and the value chain of the EEE sector is better structured to achieve more affordable repairs.
