The policy seeks to attract investments and foster activities complementary to battery production, aiding electrification efforts. It aims to create a helping environment for the development of the battery value chain by providing incentives and support mechanisms. These may include subsidies to encourage businesses to invest in activities related to battery production's value chain.
The priority is to strengthen the general electrification process by encouraging investments in activities related to battery production. These activities cover the industrial value chains for manufacturing components to produce cells and modules (anodes, cathodes, electrolyte, housing, cells, rolling and cutting machinery, etc.), components involved in the battery pack (thermal control, protection, sensors, electronics, box and covers, bus bars, metal-mechanical, assembly), and recycling represent particularly significant interest as more viable and immediate opportunities for the Catalan sector.
Measures addressed include infrastructure development, research and development support, skills training, and fostering collaborations within the industry. Through these measures, the policy aims to enhance the competitiveness of the battery industry.
Responsible unit: Directorate-General of Industry. Department of Enterprise and Labor.

The Basque Energy Strategy 3E2030 is a 10-year roadmap outlining BC's energy policy. The long-term vision of 3E2030 is to transition BC's socio-economic model towards a low-energy model that heavily relies on renewable energy sources with electricity as the primary energy vector. Specifically, the strategy aims for zero consumption of oil for energy purposes by 2050, zero consumption of fossil fuels with net-zero GHG emissions by the end of the century, and an 80% reduction in GHG emissions by 2050 compared to 2005. 3E2030 sets long-term objectives for an increasingly low-carbon and competitive energy system:
- Intensifying energy efficiency measures across all sectors to limit energy consumption.
- Contributing to a competitive and sustainable energy system with increased use of renewable energy.
- Establishing priority areas for research, resource identification, technological and industrial development in the energy field.
3E2030 entails action lines that advance BC's commitment to energy efficiency and security of supply:
- Reducing energy demand through lower consumption levels, utilizing renewable energy or alternative energy sources, or managing demand to optimize the energy system. (Transportation, Industry, Buildings & housing, Primary sector, and Administration.)
- Supervision of energy markets and supply, incl. studies to determine the potential for local supply.
- Leveraging future opportunities for Basque industry to innovate in cutting-edge energy technologies.

The Regional Programme under the European Regional Development Fund - ERDF PR allocates 2 billion euros in the period 2021-2027 in Lombardy Region, aimed at promoting economic recovery and competitiveness of local businesses. Currently, Lombardy Region is working on the schedule of the policy tools and instruments of the Programme to be activated in 2025, identifying the main needs and challenges of the regional ecosystem. Within the Charge project, both the already announced instruments, such as the “Collabora and Innova” call, and the new instruments that will be integrated in the periodical re-programming will be addressed. In the first case, AFIL will promote the proposal of new battery-related projects financed by the instrument in order to scale-up the results obtained within the Circular Economy HUB EcoCIRC on e-mobility where regional universities and research centre developed innovative solution for a circular battery value-chain, from the use of advanced and sustainable materials to the disassembly, remanufacturing and recycling technologies. In the second case, AFIL and Regione Lombardia will work on the update of the Lombardy Roadmap for Research and Innovation on Circular Economy, adopted in 2020, to activate new policy tools aligned to the STEP (Strategic Technologies for EU Platform) regulation, where batteries could be considered a critical technology on which boost the investments.

Regional plans are policy-instruments based in national planning law, and are a mandatory foundation for local and national policy in the region. The regional plans cover both land use and development for societal development regarding business and job development, public health, climate and energy concerns, agriculture, children and youth, culture and heritage & transport and mobility. The regional plans are developed by the county council in close co-operation with local and national authorities and regional stakeholders.
In Østfold, the regional policy planning system consists of a planning strategy and three integrated plans that in total cover all the policy topics needed for the county council. So, despite the plural name, it is in reality one policy document. Action plans and annual budgets are developed to implement the targets and strategies set in the regional plans. Use, reuse, and recycling of batteries are a focus of several policy strategies in the Regional plans, and are relevant particularly for business development, energy policy, area use, building policies, and fossil free transport strategies.

European Funds for Podlaskie Voivodeship is operational programme for structural funds for the years 2021-2027. Among numerous initiatives focused on the region development, programme focuses on comprehensive projects in the field of municipal waste management, which are planned in accordance with the hierarchy of waste management methods and taking into account the requirements of Art.7 lit. g) Regulation (EU) 2021/1058 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 24 June 2021. In frames of Priority II of EFfP (FEdP) it is planned to implement projects not only involving the creation of the required infrastructure for waste treatment, but also projects contributing to increasing the percentage selectively collected waste. Separate waste collection systems will be supported, including solutions for waste prevention or reuse (Selective Municipal Waste Collection Points). Moreover, waste recycling systems will be developed (projects towards a resource-efficient economy). Investments in waste containers, specialized vehicles (garbage trucks) for collecting municipal waste, devices and facilities for sorting and processing waste, recycling, composting and recovery facilities combined with activities aimed at raising the level of citizens' awareness and information on the subject waste collection and management system. Batteries and accumulators are foreseen in the above mentioned priority and initiatives.
