Project summary
CHEERS4EU wants to accelerate the transition to a circular economy in Europe through focussing on Circular Hubs. There are significant regional disparities related to circular material use rates between EU regions. To keep up with the transition to a circular economy, it is essential to strengthen structures regarding circularity in general and Circular Hubs in particular in all regions. Therefore, the exchange of good practices regarding multi-helix collaboration, circular value chains and business models and social impact are needed, since they form the building blocks for a Circular Hub and thus a higher circularity rate.
By exchanging good practices, participating circular hubs and potential future hubs work together to identify new solutions to challenges regarding multi-helix collaboration, circular value chains and business models and social impact. In this way, this Interreg Europe project will enable European regions to integrate successful experiences and policies from other regions into their own regional and smart specialisation programmes, thus strengthening the Union's cohesion concerning circularity.
The aim of this project is to identify what is key in forming and exploiting a Circular Hub in specific regional context. this in order to influence local policy instruments to secure regional support. By exchanging good practices and experiences at the interregional level, the building blocks of circular hubs are revealed, which authorities can use in shaping a Circular Hub at the regional level. In this way, the good practices from other partners are institutionalized in local policy, which ensures longer term support for circular hubs from relevant public authorities. This support is instrumental to secure (European) funding for circular hubs and thus the acceleration of the transition to a circular economy throughout Europe.
