Project summary
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an area of research and technology application that can have a significant impact on public policies and services in many ways. In just a few years, it is expected that the potential will exist to free up nearly one-third of public servants’ time, allowing them to shift from mundane tasks to high-value work.
Governments can also use AI to design better policies and make better decisions, improve communication and engagement with citizens and residents, support digital and greener companies and improve the quality of public services. While the potential benefits of AI are significant, attaining them is not an easy task. Public sector use of AI trails that of the private one; the field is complex and has a steep learning curve; and the purpose of, and context within public sector, are unique and present a number of challenges.
Furthermore, although public sector is included in the existing AI national strategies launched by most of the EU countries, its expected role is very limited role and only considered at national level what can lead into a huge gap when it comes to the regional and local levels.
Aware of this, ENAIBLER brings together a well-balanced partnership, both in terms of geographical distribution and regional level of development, formed by 8 partners from 5 EU regions, including regional and local authorities responsible of the policy instruments addressed and supported by development agencies and a university working with them in the digital transformation of their territory.
This will ensure the consecution of the project’s overall objective which is to enable regional and local public sector organisations to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) as an effective way of supporting them in their task of digitally transforming their territories.
